When you read tumblr blogs that tend to be motivational or inspirational, do they inspire you to change?  Do you think about your situation and say, what the fuck am I doing?  Or do you think, hmmm that’s nice and move on.  So much about Love online.  And particularly what I see is that girls feel pressure and disappointment.  

But let me say, from a guy’s perspective:

• We fall in love.
• We are disappointed.
• We cry.
• We don’t understand.
• We give chances after chances.
• We see your beauty even when you don’t see it in yourself. 

But I see that expectations tend to be different from guys and girls.  There is nothing worse than the lack of communication.  Sometimes people don’t really know how to be loved.  People don’t know how to receive attention, or what to make of it, and they retreat into their own little world.

When I read all of those love quotes that say things, like, “I wish this moment was happening for the rest of my life.” I smile for a moment, because I know that love is filled with many things.  It is diverse and challenging. There is no reason for it to exist, and yet there it is.  And people often ask the other, “Why do you love me?”  The best answer really is, I don’t know.

Love is magic, because sometimes your entire being tells you, this person is what is missing in my life.  And the worst part of it all is if you discover that the other person either doesn’t feel that way, or you find out later there are things that don’t make you as compatible as you hoped.

And the problem with Love is that just because it doesn’t work, doesn’t mean you ever really stop loving, because that Magic, that spark, that something special that you saw in that person will stay inside your heart.  And while you may feel bad by the behavior of that person, you will still hold a place for them.  Getting over them is different than the feelings you have had, because those feeling are like the ripples of the water, and they can go on for a very long time.

So I’m going to a wedding today, and I wonder and think about Love and what it all means.  And why do these people love each other? And do they have a chance, because the statistics are not so great with success. And then I realize that in spite of everything, we do have to take leaps of faith and hope for the best.  We spend a lot of time and energy getting to know someone so intimately that it becomes a natural progression of things, or an obsession. 

Love is Magic.
